A man who had been involved in an earlier non-injury accident in Carroll County was killed by a hit and run driver while trying to retrieve his vehicle early Wednesday morning.

The incident happened at about 12:30 a.m. on Highway 47 near Ghent. State Police say Aaron L. Martin, 24, of Ghent had been involved in an earlier non-injury accident at the same location, and, while attempting to remove his vehicle from the ditch, was struck and killed by a passing motorist, who fled the scene.

The vehicle used in the incident was later recovered, but the driver, whose name has not been released, is still at large.
