A man died in a single-vehicle crash in rural Laurel County Friday morning.

Police say Lloyd Smith, 27, of East Bernstadt, lost control of his pickup truck in a curve along HWY-490 around 9:30 a.m. The vehicle left the road and slammed into a tree. Smith was thrown from the truck and was declared dead at the scene.

Police are asking people to avoid the area.
