One man was killed in a three car accident in Lexington late Thursday night.

Police say that just after 10 p.m., a 25-year-old man driving a Honda Accord made an illegal left hand turn from Yarnallton Pike onto Leestown Road. A truck slammed into the Accord, and then a third car hit the truck. EMS took the driver of the Honda to UK Hospital. He was pronounced dead just before 11:30 p.m.

The drivers of the truck and the third vehicle were not injured.

Officials have not released the name of the man killed.

The roads were slick from rain, but police have not said if that was a factor in the accident.

"It's kind of been on and off for the past few hours. Right now we just don't have a reason for the collision, so it could be a factor. But I think at this point its too early to say for sure," Lexington police Sgt. Billy Richardson said.

Police continue to investigate.
