A man died in a fiery single-vehicle crash in Monroe County early Sunday morning.

Police say Joshua K. Hale, 29, of Gamaliel, was driving a Jeep along Alexander School Road when he lost control on a curve. The Jeep dropped off the roadway and slammed into a tree. Witnesses were not able to get to Hale before the vehicle was engulfed in flames.

Hale was pronounced dead at the scene.
