A man was killed and a Kentucky State Trooper was injured in an accident in Whitley County Wednesday afternoon.
Police say 41-year-old James King of Williamsburg was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials say the trooper was responding to another accident around 3 p.m. when he became involved in a crash himself on the way there on Shiner Church Road off of U.S. 25W.
According to officials, the trooper was heading to a crash north bound on U.S 25W. when he approached slow moving traffic. The officer had his emergency lights and siren on and went into the south bound lanes to pass the cars. That's when the 1991 Camaro King was in, that was also north bound lane, somehow turned into his path and the officer hit him.
Police say King was wearing a seat belt. The officer was hurt and taken to the hospital but does not have life-threatening injuries.
