A Scott County man set to stand trial next week on two counts of murder has entered a surprise guilty plea in the case.
The plea from Jeffrey Bailey comes with a change in charges. According to the indictment, in June 2010 Bailey was under the influence of drugs when he slammed head-on into Brian Way's pickup. The crash killed Way and his girlfriend, Anna Hamilton.
Bailey was originally charged with two counts of murder. In the plea agreement obtained by LEX 18, Bailey's charges of murder has been downgraded to two counts of second-degree manslaughter.
Bailey's sentencing hearing is set for April 29.
