Witnesses say a Lexington driver ran from a car just seconds after it crashed and burst into flames early Thursday morning.
Firefighters found the car fully engulfed in the median of New Circle Road near Alumni Drive at about 2 a.m. The driver lost control, and the car got tangled in the cable barrier. It appears that the gas tank busted and leaking fuel set the fire.
Firefighters say a passing driver pulled a man out of the car, and that he took off.
Police will be checking in with the car's registered owner later Thursday.
