A man says he was robbed outside of a Lexington gas station early Monday morning, and a friend he was traveling with disappeared.

Police say the victim told them he and a friend stopped at the Shell station on Athens-Boonesboro Road around 1 a.m. Just before he got to the front door, a man attacked him. Investigators say by the time the victim recovered, his backpack was gone, and so was his friend.

The victim was not seriously hurt, and police only got a vague description of the suspect.
