An eastern Kentucky man was sentenced Wednesday to 40 years in prison for trying to arrange the murder of a man who owed him money.
That was the federal judge's decision in the case of Robert Barnett. Thirty years of that penalty for the Magoffin County man stems from a charge for having a machine gun.
In June, a jury convicted Barnett in a murder-for-hire plot. The 70-year-old hired an undercover ATF agent to kill a West Virginia man.
