BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - A judge has handed down two life sentences to a Lexington man who pleaded guilty to fatally shooting a man and a woman in Bowling Green.
The Daily News (http://bit.ly/13lEXMM ) reports 32-year-old Gilbert Uccardia Holts Jr. received the sentenced Friday in Warren Circuit Court and will have to serve at least 20 years in prison before he is eligible for parole.
Holts pleaded guilty last month to killing 26-year-old Jamaal Covington and 21-year-old Latasia Kirk in 2005. Police arrested Holts in 2011 after getting information from a confidential informant.
Family members of the victims made statements about the impact of their deaths on loved ones.
The newspaper reports Holts did not speak during his sentencing hearing and appeared to show no emotion.
