Police in Trimble County are investigating a home invasion robbery early Thursday morning that left a resident of the home with a gunshot wound.
The incident happened at about 2:30 a.m. at a home on Snell Lane in Trimble County. Police say two or three suspects dressed in black clothing while wearing ski masks attempted to break into an occupied residence. The suspects assaulted 30-year-old resident Josh Broughton, Sr. as he confronted the suspects at the door. After robbing Broughton, the suspects began to flee the scene. Broughton was then shot by one of the suspects as he attempted to follow the suspects.
Broughton was transported by family members to Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison, Indiana where he was treated for a gunshot wound and released.
Police are continuing to investigate.
