Deputies in Richmond say a home invasion arrest in Garrard County led them to a serial burglary suspect.
Deputies in Madison County began investigating a series of burglaries in January. In several cases, a black SUV was spotted leaving the scene, and investigators concluded the crimes were likely linked.
In early February, Jarred Pitman, 26, was shot during a home invasion in Garrard County. A Madison County Sheriff's deputy saw the story on the news, contacted one of the responding officers and learned Pitman drove a black SUV. Officials say deputies interviewed Pitman the next day, and he confessed to several Madison County burglaries.
Investigators say Pitman sold jewelry to pawn shops in Nicholasville, Lexington, Richmond, Berea and London. Detectives seized the jewelry. Deputies say they also found Pitman sold televisions, guns and other items to individuals. Detectives seized those items, which linked Pitman to other burglaries.
Deputies charged Pitman with eight counts of burglary and theft by deception.
