A Lexington man was shot to death early Sunday morning. So far, there have been no arrests.
"Oh man, he didn't deserve this," says Brianne Wilson, as she clutches a gift from her lost friend. "He's a very religious person. No matter what's going on in his life, he always said goodnight, say your prayers, and we prayed together all the time," remembers Wilson.
Wilson is mourning the loss of her friend, who police have yet to positively identify. Wilson says he was gunned down near her home. "He said they shot him so I just took off running and then when I got up there it was all taped off," says Wilson. When she got there, she saw her best friend, lying on the street.
"I know it ain't going to take it away, it ain't going to bring him back, but I want to know who killed my friend," pleads Wilson.
There are few details about what happened overnight. There was an annual block party held Saturday, but that was in the afternoon and the shooting didn't happen until around 2:00 in the morning. Police say it's not clear if there's a connection between the block party and the shooting.
Police say a 31-year-old man was shot three times at the intersection of Dakota and West Seventh Street. The victim was taken to UK Hospital where he later died. "His mommy and daddy deserve to know who took their son away," says Wilson.
Lexington Police have not identified a person of interest in the shooting.
