Police in Barbourville are investigating after a man was stabbed in the abdomen and another man was arrested in the incident.
The incident happened at about 8 p.m. Sunday. Police were called to a stabbing at Dixon Trailer Park in Barbourville. Responding units arrived to find that Charles D. Henson, 57, of Barbourville had been stabbed with a knife in the abdomen.
Witness interviews and the following investigation revealed that Henson had been involved in at least one, possibly two altercations with Lonnie Davis, 54, of Cannon, throughout late afternoon Sunday and early evening.
According to Henson and witnesses at the location, the second fight resulted in Henson and Davis rolling around on the ground, at which time Henson received a stab wound to the left abdomen.
Henson was located at the scene and Davis at another location. Henson was transported to the Knox County Hospital where he received treatment and is expected to recover. Davis met officers at the Barbourville Police Department where he was interviewed and later charged in the stabbing. Davis did make a statement about the events to officers but information in relation to that statement is not currently being released.
Henson is receiving treatment at the Knox County Hospital and Davis had been charged with Assault 2nd Degree and being held in the Knox County Detention Center.
The investigation is continuing. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the altercation.
