Lexington police took a man into custody after an apparent robbery attempt Monday morning.

Police say a taxi driver picked up a fare, who then implied he had a weapon. The driver hit the panic button in the cab, and police quickly arrived on the scene at the A&D Apartments on Alexandria Drive.

Police arrested Joseph Ramone Parker, 27, and charged him with first degree robbery.

Investigators say the cab driver was a former Louisville police officer.
