BOWLING GREEN (AP) - DuPont Manual's Kayla Styles scored 17 points in leading the Lady Crimsons to a 74-60 win over Mercy in the first round of the KHSAA Girls Sweet 16 at Diddle Arena.
The Lady Crimsons advance to play Region 3 champion Owensboro Catholic in Friday's quarterfinals.
Styles flirted with a triple-double Thursday, also tallying nine rebounds and seven assists. Morgan Allen and Aricka Prentice added 14 points apiece for the Region 7 champions.
Assistant Tim Holman coached Manual. He was filling in as head coach Stacy Pendleton continued a three-game suspension stemming from an ejection in the region semifinals.
Kayla Richardson had a team-high 12 points for Region 6 champion Mercy. Morgan Doherty added 10 points, four rebounds and three steals.
The teams combined to shoot 85 free throws.
