Ten to fifteen agents are calling. It's driving Josh Harrellson crazy, but it's a good thing. They all have a pitch.
"They can make me move up in the draft, talk to a couple of teams and give me some workouts, make me better," says Josh Harrellson.
The former UK standout who is the people's choice doesn't have time to think about losing to UConn in the NCAA tournament. He is finishing school, traveling the state with his Jorts tour and making sure he stays in shape.
To his clothing line. If you would have told him last year he'd have a clothing line, "Probably would have just did what I did now, laugh," said Harrellson. "Never would have thought about it. Never would have believed it. It's amazing what happens with hard work and dedication."
When Cal wants to motivate Stacey Poole for next season, he uses Josh. What a perfect example of someone who sat on the bench and made himself into somebody by working hard. If Josh can do it, why not Stacey? Cal says Stacey is buying it.
Put yourself in Josh's shoes. You more than hold your own against a few centers in the NCAA tournament that would have been lottery picks if they would have jumped to the NBA, yet you aren't even sure you will be drafted. If he could finally have a chance to sit down with an NBA executive, and if they ask Josh why they should draft him, he has the perfect answer.
"I'm going to do anything you want me to do," said Harrellson Hard work, dedication. I'm going to be the dirty man. I'm going to dive on the floor. I'm going to do anything I have to do to compete and play on your team."
To the controversy with Bobby Knight, who ripped UK for saying something stupid, that none of UK's starters from the 2010 season went to class in the second semester, which of course isn't true. Josh wasn't upset.
"We are used to it," said Harrellson. "We had a bad semester a year ago, a year and a half ago. Since then the coaching staff, the older guys, we've been making sure everybody is going to class because that effects not only us but the years after us to come. And, we don't want a bad rap for us."
Another perfect answer.
