Lexington Mayor Jim Gray plans to host a news conference Friday morning to address the city's fire and emergency services.

City council member Julian Beard and interim fire chief Keith Jackson will reportedly attend the press conference at the mayor's office.

The agenda remains unclear, but several issues could come up. Firefighters failed in their efforts to block city changes to the department's health insurance benefits in court last month, and in the past, the union protested the mayor's decision to pull engines from service on certain days. The city has also yet to name a permanent fire chief.

The meeting is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. at the Lexington Fayette-Urban County Government Center.
