The first thing you notice about Jodie Meeks is his book bag. He's back on campus as a student.
The former UK star, who needs 18 credits to graduate, promised his parents that he'd get his degree when he decided to leave early for the NBA.
"Not only for them, but I want to do it so I have something to fall back on," says Meeks.
Jodie calls the life of an NBA player, "great."
After being a star, it's often not easy riding the pine. Sitting on the bench isn't fun. It can be frustrating. It was a big part of Meeks' rookie year in the NBA.
"A litlte bit, but you kind of expected it being a rookie in the NBA. It's not always going to be peaches and cream."
"Coming in I expected to play a lot. But, it didn't happen, so I just tried to make the best of my opportunity."
When it comes to confidence, not playing didn't shake Jodie. He just believes he needs a coach to put him in the game. It's that simple.
"I think for the most part I just need a chance. you can always work on all aspects of your game. But, for the most part as long as I get opportunity, I can take advantage of it."
It was painful for True Blue fan watching Kentucky lose to West Virginia in the NCAA Tournament, especially how they lost, not hitting from downtown.
Overall, the Philadelphia 76ers guard had fun watching UK play whenever he could. "Depressed" was the word he used when it comes to watching the Cats final game. And of course he knows, he could have helped.
"Of course it enters your mind, but I'm happy with my decision that I left. It was time for me to move on. But if I was here, I could have helped them win. "
