A 15-year-old teen was accidentally shot in the thigh Tuesday night at a home in Mercer County, officials said.
The teen was flown to the University of Kentucky Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The teen is being treated and recovering well, according to the mother.
Officials say the victim and the mother's fiance, age 24, were playing video games and when the fiance got up to leave, picked up what they thought was an unloaded gun striking the teen.
The mother said all handguns have been removed from the house since the incident.
Officials say the investigation is ongoing and child services have also been notified.
