A five alarm fire destroyed a Mercer County home early Monday morning.
Bruce Jackson says smoke detectors llikely save his life. He says he thinks the fire may have started around a freezer. Jackson threw about five dogs out the window before he escaped the burning home.
Firefighters say the house along Huffman Road was fully involved when they arrived.
The fire was so intense, crews from surrounding areas were called in to battle the blaze.
Firefighters called the home a total loss.
There were no reported injuries.
Firefighters were still on the scene at 6 a.m.working to extinguish the flames.
No word on what might have cause the fire.
