Midway College Accepting Nominations For 2014 Pinkerton Vision Award

Midway College is now accepting nominations to the 2014 Pinkerton Vision Award.

The award is given to an individual(s) who have impacted the lives of women in some way. For more information on the Pinkerton Vision Award Nomination criteria, click here. The deadline to apply is May 20.

The winner will be announced at the Midway College Spotlight Awards on June 5.

U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist Micki King will speak at Midway College at Spotlight Awards.

Micki King is an Olympic Gold Medalist, a retired US Air Force Colonel, a former University of Kentucky Assistant Athletic Director and a mother.

She began her career in the 1968 Mexico City Olympic Games and ended up breaking an arm and not getting the medal. King eventually won the Gold Medal in the 1972 Munich Game with the Springboard Diving competition. Following her Olympic victory, King turned to coaching where she was assigned to the then all-male Air Force Academy from 73-77.

King has been inducted into the United States Olympic Hall of Fame, the International Women's Sports Hall of Fame, the International Swimming Hall of Fame, and the University of Michigan Athletic Hall of Honor.
