DANVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Some central Kentucky communities are enjoying the mild weather this winter in more ways than one.

Aside from enjoying the warmer-than-normal temperatures, officials in some communities say they are seeing a financial savings because they don't have to order as much salt and employees don't have to work as much overtime.

Boyle County Public Works Director Duane Campbell told the Messenger-Inquirer that the county has saved about $80,000 so far (http://bit.ly/AgvPFP ).

Garrard County Deputy Judge-Executive James Bushnell says officials there haven't had to use their road salt budget at all. Last year, they spent $34,000 just in the first quarter.

Lincoln County Treasurer Teresa Padgett said officials there are about $21,000 under budget for salt and overtime.
