Richmond Model senior Ray White was named the 2012 Kentucky Wendy's High School Heisman winner earlier this week.
White competes in two sports for the Patriots. He plays midfield for the Model soccer team, and third base and short stop on the baseball team. White also excels in the classroom.
White emerged from among 1,170 Kentucky student athletes to win the award. Twelve state winners will move on to the national finals. Officials will announce the national winner in New York City on Dec. 7. National Finalists will be featured during a televised ceremony on ESPN networks and will receive gold medals and $2,000 awards for their high schools.
"Since 1994, the Wendy's High School Heisman program has honored over a quarter million High School Heisman winners for their achievements both on and off the field. Each High School Heisman embodies these unique set of characteristics-characteristics that when exhibited, not only land an elite few in New York City for Heisman week in December, but on a path toward life achievement."
