INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The family of a missing college student has won a nearly $3.5 million judgment against two men it claims was involved in her disappearance six years ago in Indianapolis.
A Marion Superior Court judge this week ordered a default judgment against state prison inmate John Shelton and his father, Edward Shelton of Avon, in the 2004 disappearance of Molly Dattilo.
A lawsuit filed by Dattilo's legal guardian claimed the men had attacked Dattilo, possibly causing her death.
The 23-year-old Eastern Kentucky University student from Madison who had been attending summer classes at IUPUI in Indianapolis was last on July 6, 2004.
The judgment was first reported by The Indianapolis Star.
Neither of the Sheltons have been charged in her disappearance. Attempts to reach the men for comment Wednesday were unsuccessful.
