Montgomery Co. Woman Pleads Not Guitly To Attempted Murder In Cat Dispute

A woman accused of trying to kill a neighbor over a missing cat in Montgomery County pleaded not guilty during a hearing Thursday.

Deputies say Janie Grooms, 53, went to confront a neighbor Friday night. The Montgomery County sheriff says there was an ongoing dispute over Grooms' cats. One of the animals apparently caused damage to the neighbor's car, and he put out a live trap and caught the cat. Deputies say Grooms fired several shots toward the neighbor. He was not hit.

Grooms pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and is scheduled to appear in court again on Oct. 25.
