Police have released more details about a chase involving a front-end loader in Jessamine County Monday morning.
Police say officers spotted a man driving a stolen Bobcat front-loader along Main Street in Wilmore and gave chase. The thief drove through a gate and into a heavily wooded area. Police couldn't drive their cruisers into the woods, so they continued the chase on foot. They located the Bobcat, but the man was nowhere in sight. A Lexington Police Department K9 tracked the suspect 200 to 300 yards to the river and lost the scent.
Police say the thief took the Bobcat from a lot on East College Street. The suspect tried to hotwire two dump trucks before settling on the Bobcat. All of the vehicles belong to Allen Construction Company.
Investigators say officers only saw one suspect, but they don't think he was alone.
