More than 1,000 people were without power in Lexington Saturday night.
Officials with Kentucky Utilities say about 1,500 customers lost power just before 8:30 p.m. Because of a problem with a switch in the breaker box.
Residents waited patiently after they were told their power would be restored by 11 p.m.
"All of a sudden the power just went out. I didn't hear nothing or no loud noises it just went black in the house," said Lexington resident Ronald Pratt.
Fire officials say the outage caused the alarms of some businesses near Mercer Road to go off. No damages or injuries were reported.
