Here is an interesting tidbit.
When it's all said and done, there will only be two teams in the state baseball tourney ranked higher than Woodford County at No. 15 in the Kentucky Baseball Coaches Association Poll. And there could be just one.
Three teams still alive currently rank higher than the Jackets: St. Xavier at No. 3, Male at No. 7 and Central Hardin at No. 12. St. X and Male play Friday evening for the Seventh Region championship, so one of those two team will be eliminated. And Central Hardin still has to get by LaRue County in the Fifth Region title game.
Teams below the Jackets didn't fare much better in regional play. No. 17 Pleasure Ridge Park and No. 18 Bullitt East will vie for the Sixth Region crown, so one of those two teams will be eliminated. Caloway County, tied for 24th, won the First Region.
All of the other top 25 teams will watch the state tourney from home.
That means at best, only five of the top 25 team will make state, and it could whittle down to only four if LaRue County upsets Central Hardin.
