She is the only survivor in a horrific crash that killed a family of three from Louisville last Friday in Whitley County, and now the girl's mother is talking about her recovery.
Not only did Kirstenn Lynch survive the crash, four days later she's in good condition at Kosair Children's Hospital. Lynch was hurt in the crash - the 14-year-old broke three ribs, her collarbone, four vertebrates in her back and suffered bruised lungs.
Lynch was riding with her best friend, Savanna Catlett, Savanna's father, Brian and stepmother Ambeanna on their way back from Gatlinburg. Authorities say Brian swerved to avoid another car on I-75 in Whitley County, causing his SUV to flip. All three Catletts died in the crash.
The only thing left of that vehicle was the seat that Kirstenn was sitting in, and doctors consider her progress remarkable. Her mother, Natasha Lynch, says Kristenn has got a long road ahead, though, and she isn't sure she's processed the tragedy that took place.
Natasha Lynch said Kirstenn was invited on the trip to Tennessee by the Catletts because Lynch wasn't able to take her herself.
