(AP) - Kentucky forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist has returned to the team after going home to New Jersey during the holiday break to visit his hospitalized mother.

Cindy Richardson, who was admitted last week for an undisclosed illness, has been released.

Kidd-Gilchrist said he considered not playing in the No. 3 Wildcats' game Wednesday against Loyola (Md.) once he learned Richardson had been hospitalized, but he decided to stay after discussing it with Kentucky coach John Calipari.

He finished with 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists in Kentucky's 87-63 win over the Greyhounds before receiving a police escort to the airport to make his flight home on time.

The Wildcats (11-1) play Lamar on Wednesday in their final game before facing No. 4 Louisville on Dec. 31.
