(AP) - The process of hydraulic fracturing to extract natural gas in Kentucky is the subject of a panel discussion this week at the University of Kentucky.
Information being presented includes the extent of hydraulic fracturing under way in Kentucky; how Kentucky's geology is related; the permitting process; the relationship between energy and water resources; and research on economic and environmental aspects.
The university's Appalachian Center and Appalachian Studies Program are presenting the event from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. EST Thursday at UK's White Hall Classroom Building.
Al Cross, director of the Institute for Rural Journalism and Community Issues, will moderate a discussion with the audience.
The event is free and open to the public.
