Much like the rumors that swirled around the head coaching job at Kentucky, the assistant positions are also drawing a lot of attention.
Kentucky native and Texas Tech offensive coordinator Neal Brown is among the names thought to be coming to UK.
Brown was on a Texas radio station (KTTU-FM) today and discussed the rumors.
"You know, as the popularity grows, these websites and things like that have grown in popularity as well, and they don't have a great track record on some of the things they put out there. But I'm proud of the job I have and glad to be at Texas Tech. It's like somebody told me: It's better to have your name out there for maybe other people wanting you than the other way, being on the firing line. I think it's a compliment to what we've been able to do on offense - really not myself; more our players and our staff. And probably coach (Tommy) Tuberville's track record, too, of assistant coaches moving on," Brown stated.
The radio host countered with a question regarding Brown's roots saying, "from a Kentucky standpoint, that's where you're from and there's a lot of chatter about that because, again, that's where you and your wife, that's where you came from..."
Brown responded, "I don't really want to talk about any other jobs or anything like that. But that's the link because that's where I'm from and that's where I played. And I get that, but a lot of the talk out there is definitely premature."
The Danville native added that he's on the road recruiting for Texas Tech at this moment.
