Neighbors rescued a woman from a burning Madison County home Sunday evening.

The blaze broke out in a house along Bethlehem Road around 9:30 p.m. The woman who lives there called 911 and said she was trapped in a bathroom. But by the time firefighters arrived, two neighbors had already set up a ladder in the back of a truck, and helped the woman escape the burning home.

"It was a really good save," Madison County Fire Department chief Jim Cox Jr. said.

Firefighters say they were able to quickly extinguish the fire. The home sustained some damage, but the quick work of fire crews limited it.

EMS took the woman to the hospital so doctors could check her out, but firefighters say they expect she will be OK.

Officials they say the fire apparently started in a bundle of wires.
