The NCAA is investigating Eric Bledsoe, according to the New York Times.

The time in question predates Bledsoe's time at Kentucky and centers around his senior year in high school at A.H. Parker High School in Birmingham, Al.

The NCAA is investigating how Bledsoe was able to qualify academically to play in college - something that the story alleges seemed awfully unlikely before he moved to Parker High for his senior year.

Bledsoe's high school closed after his junior year, forcing him to find a new school. The article alleges that Bledsoe's new high school coach at Parker paid rent for several months for the family once they moved in to an apartment that was within the zone for his school.

An anonymous college coach who recruited Bledsoe also alleges in the article that the same coach, Maurice Ford, asked for money as part of Bledsoe's recruitment to help pay for the family's rent.

Ford denied both allegations.

According to the Times article, under N.C.A.A. rules, it is not permissible for a high school student's family to receive rent money from a public school coach. It would be considered an impermissible benefit.

As the article points out, the NCAA does not speak about ongoing investigations, so the scope of the investigation is unknown.
