The Lexington man who was critically injured Friday morning when his car slammed into a tree... has died.

It happened on the inner loop of New Circle Road, between Leestown and Georgetown roads. Police say 21-year-old Allen Borntraeger was changing lanes when he lost control of his car, spun across both lanes and hit a tree.

Ccrews had to cut him out of the car before rushing him to U-K where he later died from his injuries.
