A Nicholasville Police Department officer shot in the line of duty last month returned to work earlier this week.

Police say Officer John Paul Rainey spotted a suspicious person walking along the street back in October. When he got out of his cruiser, the suspect fired a shot, and the bullet struck the back panel of his ballistic vest. Officials say Rainey fired back, and the suspect ran off along Maple Leaf Lane.

Rainey suffered only minor injuries, thanks to that vest.

Despite a $10,000 reward in the case, police say they still have no new leads.

If you have any information on the incident, contact central dispatch at 859-887-5447.

The $10,000 reward is in addition to a $1,000 reward offered by Crime Stoppers.
