Officials now say they have identified a man hit and killed by a train Tuesday night, 55 year old Charles Everett Carter of Lexington.

The coroner says the man was standing on the tracks about a quarter mile south of the Baker Street crossing just before midnight when the train hit him. The coroner says the man was likely facing the train and it doesn't appear he tried to move before impact.

The official cause of death is blunt force trauma to the head and body.
