Nine Escape Lincoln County Fire

Nine people, including six kids, escaped a burning home in Lincoln County Thursday night.

A man, his wife, and five children between the ages of five and seven live in the home along KY-1770, near Crab Orchard. A family friend and another child were also spending the night. Officials say one of the people inside spotted flames near the dryer around 11:30 p.m. The children's father got everybody up and out. The youngest kids were sleeping in a room closest to the fire. One little girl ran back in to get her stuffed bunny, but made it back out safely.

The home sustained significant smoke, fire and water damage, and the family lost most of its possessions.

The victims reportedly stayed with a relative overnight and will get in touch with the Red Cross Friday.
