A fire forced inmates at the Powell County jail outside early Friday.

It happened just before 1:30 a.m. We're told the inmates had been using rags and cleaning chemicals earlier in the day. Officials said the inmates threw the rags in a laundry basket and the basket ignited.

Inmates at the jail were taken outside as a precaution while crews knocked the fire out.

No one was hurt.
