An off-duty Lexington Police Department officer tracked down some arson suspects in a stolen car Monday night.

Officials say the officer was heading home to Clark County when he spotted two men torching a car along Combs Ferry Road. The off-duty officer chased Charles Speake, 21, and Clifford Beasley, 37, and the men started throwing things out of their car at the pursuing officer, including an anti-freeze jug. Police finally caught up with the duo in Lexington at the intersection of Winchester Road and Man O' War.

Turns out, the car Beasley and Speake were fleeing in was stolen.

Police charged Beasley with reckless driving, receiving stolen property and possession of marijuana. Speaks faces charges including wanton endangerment, tampering with evidence and receiving stolen property.
