Officials are investigating the cause of a loud boom reported in Morgan County Thursday night.
Police officials say they received about 25 calls within an hour after the boom, which happened at around 7 p.m. and was powerful enough to shake some homes in West Liberty and surrounding areas.
So far, officials say the cause was not weather related, and while some seismic activity was detected, it was not enough to be classified as an earthquake.
Officials are investigating the possibility that the boom was the result of surface mine blasting in the area.
