Police in Pulaski County have identified a husband and wife who died Tuesday afternoon in a murder-suicide.
Pulaski County's 911 Center received a report of a shooting incident at a home on Hunters Camp Road in eastern Pulaski County at about 1 p.m.. The caller reported one person had shot another and then shot himself. Upon arrival, responding units found two persons deceased inside the home
The investigation into the shooting found that Vernon Barnes, 34, and his wife, Paula Barnes, 33, were having marital problems and Paula Barnes was making plans to separate from her husband. Those plans lead to an apparent argument at the home.
After examining the crime scene and interviewing witnesses, investigators believe Vernon Barnes shot his wife once with a .22 rifle. He then turned the weapon on himself and took his own life. Both were pronounced dead at the scene by the Pulaski County Coroner's Office.
