Emergency officials have confirmed that one person was killed and several others injured Thursday afternoon after a passenger van and car collided on a bridge at the Madison-Estill County line.

The accident happened at about 1:45 p.m. on Highway 52. Officials say the car was so damaged that they needed to run the license plate to determine the make and model. They also said that several people in the passenger van, which had 10 people in it at the time, suffered injuries, but did not release the extent of those injuries.
