Police were on the scene late Monday afternoon after a fatal accident on I-75 in Whitley County.
27-year-old Tyler Armacost of Franklin, Indiana, was pronounced dead on the scene after his SUV hit two separate semi trucks traveling the opposite direction on I-75.
The accident happened at about 5 p.m. in the southbound lanes near mile marker 3. Officials say it appears the SUV traveling in the northbound lanes lost control, crossed the median, and hit two semis that were traveling in the southbound lanes.
Armacost's seatbelt broke and he was thrown out the SUV.
Police say they suspect Armacost is likely to have had drugs or alcohol in his system at the time of the crash.
The other two drivers, Glen Prouty of Galesburg, MI, and Donald E. Adcock of Pittsburg, TN, were taken to the Jellico Hospital and are OK. Adcock was treated for minor injuries.
