A man died after crashing his truck twice in Lexington Thursday night.
Police say Tommy Huff, 63, of Nicholasville, was driving his pickup truck along Greendale Road, near Leestown Road, around 6 p.m., when he rear-ended a Mustang. That car spun into the intersection and hit a Fed Ex semi. Huff left the scene, kept going and slammed head-on into another car about 100 yards down the road, near Buck Lane.
"We're still investigating, looking at everything. Obviously speed was a factor based on the severity of the collision," a Lexington Police Department officer at the scene said. "We're not really sure what caused the collision, why the driver was fleeing the scene of the first collision."
EMS took Huff to the hospital. The Fayette County Coroner's Office confirms he later died.
Five people inside the second car that the pickup hit were all taken to the hospital. The victims included an adult man and four children. Officials did not release any information on their conditions.
The driver of the Mustang also went to the hospital. Officials say that person was treated and released.
Paramedics and firefighters treated the others involved in the crash at the scene.
