Officials say one lane of US-421 was back open in Jackson County, but they had to close it again after a minor accident between a vehicle and police cruiser.

Police shut down the highway after two vacant homes in the area caught fire early Wednesday morning. The homes were within a mile of each other, one right on US-421 in McKee and the other along Old County Road.

Officials say they consider both fires suspicious.

At 8 a.m., crews were still on the scene and you will likely run into traffic issues in the area.
