One of two sisters was killed in an early-morning accident in Graves County Thursday involving a log truck.
According to local police, the accident happened just after 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of KY 121 and Key Bottom Road. Police say sisters Kim and Julia Fortner, both students at Graves County High School, were on their way to school when Kim, 17, who was driving, pulled out onto KY 121 into the path of the log truck. The log truck driver tried to veer, but still stuck the car.
Kim and Julia, 14, were taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center. Kim was prounounced dead shortly there after. Julia was in stable condition at last check.
The driver of the log truck was not hurt.
The Graves County sheriff said that there are counselors out at Graves County High School to speak with students.
