Officials have confirmed that one of the children killed in a Woodford County house fire Thursday night was a student at Southside Elementary in Versailles.
Woodford County School Superintendent Scott Hawkins says a crisis team will be at the school with extra grief counselors. Hawkins would not say what grade the child was in.
Hawkins says the other victim was not enrolled in school in Woodford County.
The blaze began just before midnight at the home along Cummins Ferry Road.
Firefighters found the remains of two people inside the house, and Woodford County Coroner Steve Ward says both victims were children.
Investigators say that they have pinpointed the origin of the fire and that is was in the middle of the house, but they have not determined a cause. Investigators say they are interviewing survivors trying to figure out what happened.
Officials say three younger children, who were siblings, were in an upstairs bedroom. An older juvenile, reportedly an uncle, was downstairs when one of the kids came down and said there was a fire.
Woodford County EMS transported the two survivors to UK Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
