"Operation Dustin Gross" Needs Help To Send Care Packages To Troops

President Obama promised to bring troops home from Afghanistan in his second term. But until then, students at a Bath County school are doing their part to remind troops overseas that no one has forgotten about them.

Some students at Bath County Middle School prove they are not too young to show some patriotism with a little giving so close to Veterans Day. Students took the time to honor local veterans by saluting them with a concert. During a ceremony, a big Christmas care package was rolled out for everybody to see. During the the past couple of months, students collected everything from foot powder to DVD's, even beef jerky for troops overseas.

"I remember getting some of those when I was in Vietnam," said Bob Roberts, a Marine veteran. "It was great because, you know, makes a big difference in your moral and motivation."

Now that the giving is done, Operation Dustin Gross, named after a fallen Montgomery County soldier, needs help with making sure thee care packages make it to the troops. If you would like to make a donation, you can go to their Facebook page by clicking here.
